What a wonderful tree. I was always rather frightened of yew trees as a child. There were several in the woods just by our house and I rather fancied they were mammoths that would creep up to the houe in the night.

We had a small Yew but it died recently and we don't know why. The one in your post is just amazing!

Bodran your trees are fabulous! What is really brilliant is that you've made me more aware of them when I'm out walking - I keep looking for 'Bodran' trees! Just as Clonteen made me more aware of the birds....
Rowan is my favourite....though I love oak and hawthorn and snake-trunk beech, and fey birch and sweet chestnut and horse chestnut and.....ah what's not to like?

What fab trees, i love looking at large veteran trees and trying to figure out their life history. They're great for biodiversity too!

Yew has got to be one of my favourite trees but you can't beat a nice hawthorn
