THE PULPIT YEW..

This Amazing tree is close by and i'd never even heard of it. It's again a yew tree though not as old as the previous one, but still a few thousand years i'd say...........I don't know the history of the pulpit but looking at how the hand rail is embedded it's been there for quite sometime.

The photos can't do it justice, it sit's in it's place perfectly......And i can't help but ponder about the first vicar / priest to do a sermon from it, why? whose idea? it really was a statement the christian preacher preaching from on this very pagan spot, from in it in fact Hhhmmmmmm it makes you think!!!!

The atmosphere in it is benevolent on a sunny morning.... i wouldn't be tempted there on a dark night though.................

Sorry!

I can't seem to be able to upload photos at the moment, as soon as i can there'll be a whole forest to catch up with......

ROOT'S.

Three small photos , showing how survival is possible as long at least a part of the tree is rooted strongly and in good soil...
What does this tell us about ourselves?
Whether it be a home, your religion, or a person or your family, as long as a strong foundation is there we can overcome any trial that arises in our path and be stronger for it.......
These 3 have suffered droughts , winds.,, cows and sheep eating the new leaves and scratching and rubbing themselves,,,,, but also leaving the gift of there manure as nourishment..........

YEW.

YEW.

This yew tree is the oldest living thing in Wales it's between 4/5000 yrs old the mind boggles at what it's witnessed.it's situated in st digains llangernyw 5 miles from bodran, again it was to big for me to do it justice.
Th yew grow's in a unique way the branches growing down to form new stems which become the trunks of new trees. also a new trunk can grow from the decaying mass of the old trunk. this is the power of rebirth and transformation.
The yew as always been revered for providing a direct link to the ancestors and the spirit realms..

Heather!

I know it's not a tree, and not a very good photo. But heather is another plant associated with Bee's , honey and wisdom.. The heather provides an enthusiastic passionate energy, with never a gap between thought , speech, and action This reflects a loyalty to ones true self and is the key to heathers energy. It will help you find a generosity of spirit which will help them be aware of other peoples problems and needs.
A walk on a heather clad mooor will lift the spirits and bring a calming soothing effect.
The heather inspires us to go about our lives with this same lightness of spirit , which we can then pass on to others.
Heather as always been considered lucky, and heres something you didnt know about me, A few years ago maybe 20yrs, I used to gather heather into bundles and sell it at markets for 20p each, gosh times where hard...

Beech.

This is our boundary Beech, it's about 3 hugs around at the bottom, it reminds me of a creature from greek mytholodgy..I use the beech mast in christmas pot pourri.
If the beech show's a large bud at christmas [it did] there will probably be a moist summer to follow. [there is]
The beech has a gentle but very strong spirit offering protection and love, a tree to sit under and commune with when your heart is sore........

The country craft angels oak..

And what a tree it is. . Nestled close to her home watching over like a benevolent spirit this splendid 850yr old gent is famous all over the world ,and rightfully as a preservation order protecting him.
The oak is a doorway to inner spirituality, it will lead the way to the truth, especially about past layers of action, and this revelation brings strenght and vision and a gateway to new understanding. Oak restores the will and self determination that may have become weakened in times of stress, and restores faith in the vision of what you are working towards..
Sometimes there is a need to rest beneath an oak when possible , and use the accumalated wisdom and strength gained to restore equilibrium.......
You'll find another photo at the bottom of the page, this tree is so big i could not do it justice.

ELDER.

The elder is a tree of regeneration, growing easily from all parts..The tree has a wise old woman energy. The elder provides the wisdom to deal with changes and help you to see them as transformation and renewel..i have always found the elder to be a very approachable tree, used to a long history of humankind useing all it's gifts of bark, leaves and flowers and fruit for medicines.....The wood is yellow and as a soft pith running through the centre this can be cleaned out and beads made out of the smoothed wood..

Rowan,,, Mountain ash..

The influential energy of rowan provides protective help and an increase in phychic abilities. Rowan twigs have been used throughout the ages as a protection against evil and enchantments.
It strengthens your personal power so that you can withstand any psycic attack.
The rowen is connected with the festival of imbolc which is associated with the goddess bridget who kindles the divine fire of inspiration and visions and represents the rebirth of the spirit.

The Gorse or furze bush flowers almost continuously providing rich rewards for the gathering bees..Honey is linked to wisdom in celtic legend.
The gorse is the epitome of a good harvest in your life, linking fulfilment and fruitfulness in the inner and outer worlds.
Gorse is a bach flower remedy for those who have lost their faith and hope in life and need it restoring it to them....
The heady sent of coconut released from the blooms on a warm day is second to none.

This is a wild and enchanted tree, under the protection of the faerie realms and the old magic, and as such should be greatly respected..A talisman made of hawthorn will enhance you ability to release love, open your heart and align yourself to spiritual development...always look for old wood or cut wood left by farmers to use.......This benevolent old chap is always willing to yield old wood, and Below his roots a badger as made it's sett......

Kiss of death!

This beasty lives in the valley on the north flank of bodran, i think its an Ash i'll pay it a visit now that there are leaves to confirm it........The ash was considered by the druids to be one of their 5 sacred trees , it connects with the 3 circles of existence and being known to the celts as "Abred" "Gwynedd"and "Ceugant", which translated is past, present and future....
I am tomorrows ancestor,
the future of yesterday,
and what i am in the here and now,
goes rippling out all ways ,
goes rippling out always..

As for the witch hugging him, I'm afraid i'll be chopping her of at the feet. and bringing her home.

The rhino.

Not a tree today but this amazing log it is pretty big and as hard as iron, which makes me think its oak..it's the core wood as all the bark has rotted away..I want it in my garden but it's a tad to big to pop in my pocket..and as with most of the trees they've earned pet names from my children this is the Rhino...........

Tuesday 22 May 2007

The dinosaur.

This silver birch makes a great seat, and the children called it their dinosaur and used to squeeze on together to ride it.
This birch which is usually the gracious lady of the forest as struggled to gain sustinance and is
amazingly growing out of the rock face, the safest place from sheep i suppose..
Birch is a good tree, and as always been used for cleansing and driving out evil, it is a nourishing, energizing protecting tree and as above as great afinity with the young.............and if you ask nicely it lets you make wine from its sap..

The oak and ivy..

This tree is not on Bodran, Or on one of my regular walk's but i passed it once and I didnt loiter just took the photo and scarpered.

It is an old oak ,, crowned with ivy, and quite stunning in an uncomfortable way.. The oak is or has died in torment strangled by the ivy and if you enlarge this photo you will see images of what i think of as a tormented soul, Why would a tree use human features??? in my mind it is so we will recognise the pain and help it, well nobody as noticed until me and if colin will come with me i will remove the ivy and let the tree breath, i can't go on my own ,isn't that silly!! me who'll sleep alone in forests won't go alone to this tree in broad daylight ...

The Old scotty or Fir......

This old scotty is where i first sensed ! and caught a glimpse of my first tree spirit..we always call it the lookout..It's a farseeing tree and can help us develop perceptions and insights necessary to see beyond the present, it will also help us to see and understand things from another's point of view.....Even though ours is dead it as a vigour and energy .....and the 20 we've planted are there to ease it's passing.......It is home to millions of wildlife and among others it is the buzzard lookout in daylight hours and the owls by night, among others.
